Welcome To Watches & Wonders (& More)!

Around the HODINKEE water cooler, we've been calling this week's Watches & Wonders trade show "the Super Bowl of watches," and that almost captures the magnitude. It's certainly a showcase for the best of the best, and a date we've had circled on our calendars for months. But the Super Bowl is one game between two teams. Here we have dozens of brands, all competing for attention at the exact same time by releasing products that've spent ages in gestation. So it's less like a Super Bowl, and more like the Olympics crossed with an avalanche crossed with childbirth. And it comes at a time of enormous change in how brands launch watches – with major physical trade shows a thing of the past (at least for now), Watches & Wonders represents the single largest digital trade show, by far, in the history of watchmaking. Of course, because this is the watch industry, nothing is simple. The show officially begins Wednesday morning. But some eager brands (like Omega and Seiko ) have already unveiled novelties on their own. Other giants (like Audemars Piguet and Breitling ) aren't showing at Watches & Wonders either, but could easily drop watches on the side, so we'll be keeping an eye on them, too. For this reason (and because we love parentheses) we're calling the week Watches & Wonders (& More). A litany of watchmaking giants are involved. In the coming days, we'll see new releases from... A. Lange & Söhne Bulgari Cartier Chanel H. Moser & Cie. Hermès Hublot IWC Jaeger-LeCoultre Montblanc NOMOS Oris Panerai Patek Philippe Ressence Rolex TAG Heuer Tudor Vacheron Constantin Zenith ...and many more. Our goal is to break W&W(&M) news as quickly as possible on Twitter. We'll basically be live-tweeting the releases from Rolex and other heavy hitters, so if you don't currently follow our Twitter account (@hodinkee ), you'll want to do that now. And then here on the site, you can read deeper analysis on all the most important pieces. We'll have a landing page to keep everything in one place. Because it's gonna be a lot. Beyond our Introducing posts, we'll publish interviews with brand CEOs to provide additional insight and context. We'll use daily podcasts to discuss and debate the most interesting developments. For those of you who've always dreamed of seeing Ben or Jack on Zoom, we'll have video coverage as well. This year's Watches & Wonders show is not taking place physically, but we'll still provide plenty of insight and context. As the dust settles, we'll roll out what we like to think of as postgame coverage. Who had the best showing? Who surprised us? And we'll wrap the whole thing up with HODINKEE's first ever appearance on Clubhouse at 10 A.M. ET on April 12. If you're on Clubhouse already, click this link to add the event to your calendar. Oh, and on top of everything else, this week we're also launching two exciting new brands in the Shop. We can't tell you which ones. But they're significant. And we'll have full breakdowns of those new pieces, so you're the very first to know. Okay, gang. That's the plan. It's gonna be a wild ride, and we're thrilled to have you with us every step of the way. It’s the biggest week of the year for new releases. Here's everything you need to know.
