Bring Order To Your Strap Collection

I get asked a lot about how I prefer to store my straps, and my answers have evolved over the years. When I first got into watches (and learned that I don't generally love watch bracelets), I could've stored my collection in a freezer bag or a spare bit of Tupperware, but those days are long gone. Today, I need something more constructor grade . Before we strap in, I absolutely promise that this is not buzz marketing for Dewalt (nor is HODINKEE planning a push into handyman space). I bought the following organizer assuming it would fit into my current collection of modular tool storage, but I read the product description wrong (like, not at all) and this specific item is for some other line of stackable tool storage. Specifically called the Dewalt Deep Tool Organizer (DWST14825), it's a deep organizing tray with customizable dividers, secure metal latches, IP53 water resistance, and a handy clear plastic lid. Having found myself burdened by a toolbox that would be a pain to return during the pandemic, I quickly saw an opportunity to bring some order to the chaos of my strap-heavy lifestyle, and this $20 organizer turned out to be a fitting tool for the challenge. The adjustable interior means you can define plenty of divisions between any class or size of strap. I have mine set up to hold straps (and other loosely similar items) in a rolled position divided by size and material. So, if I know I want to find a 22mm leather strap, they are all together in one cell. Given the toolish looks, I don't think this case is going to be something you set next to your three-watch winder on a lavishly appointed desk, but I do think it's a really inexpensive and useful way to store straps you don't use as often. And, if you have a lot of bulk in that collection, the DWST14825 is stackable and part of a larger modular storage system. For roughly $20, it fits into the bottom of a closet, under a bed, or perhaps even onto a tidy spot on a shelf. And you can rest easy that your straps are safe, organized, and – perhaps most importantly – out of the way.De-clutter that desk drawer with some constructive thinking.
